Blue Haven Pools Las Vegas – Don’t Do Business With These Guys!!!
I met with a Blue Haven salesman and was very impressed. I liked how everything was broken down and explained to us and every question was answered very professionally. We actually feel very bad for everything this man has to put up with working for this sham of a company. We would have waited to buy from him if he’d have gone to work with someone else. Ultimately, we went with another pool builder. Here’s why…
The company is nothing more than a continuously running bad joke. The receptionist in their front office is nothing more than a foul-mouthed child that dresses and acts like a $2 ***. The store manager is an arrogant, self-important person that doesn’t seem to interested in helping his sales people or customers when they have a question. I sat and watched as a “new” salesman tried to get a couple of questions answered and “Rick” just walked away from him saying, “I’ll get back to you later”. When we asked about financing, we were hoping that their advertisement was real. Our mistake. At a later appointment with our salesman I met another customer that came in wanting to know how his loan was progressing. When the front office *** called “Jill” you could hear her from the other end of the phone scream, “I haven’t got time for this *** ***!” I thought it was her job!
The more people I spoke to, the more unsatisfactory experiences I heard. I decided to do a little more homework on the company itself. This particular office seems to be nothing more than a sinking ship without a captain. Don’t bother looking for him by the way. He is now the president of Blue Haven Pools & Spas. You’ll never get satisfaction with Blue Haven if the entire company is run like he runs his own store. Yes, the Las Vegas store is OWNED by Steve Treese. The finance manager Jill is rude and treats customers as if they are affront to her very being. The construction manager doesn’t seem to know which way is up, does not seem to know how to do her job and avoids talking to those she is supposed to be building a pool for. The receptionist can’t say two words without cussing at someone. Especially the salespeople. When she hangs up the phone, she proceeds to go off on whomever she was talking to and then laughs about it. Rick the manager is arrogant and takes great delight in belittling his employees and customers. Just look him up on facebook. Their service man is rude and treats people with utter contempt. He's been described as nothing more than an employed bully. After speaking to someone that used to actually work for Blue Haven, I was told that the company doesn’t pay their sales people what’s promised and they continually change the prices of the pools and materials, resulting in numerous “back-charges” to the sales people. All of which comes out of their pockets. In other words, if you’re not salary, you get screwed.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!
I do not recommend them!
Our experience with Blue Haven was a nightmare from the beginning to the end. We started off working with Kevin back in April 2014 who is one of their sales guys at the Rainbow location. At first he seemed great and really excited to help us with our build design until he blew our budget by $9K after we specifically told him what we wanted to stay at $50K. We asked him several times throughout the 3 weeks of working with him if we were still within our budget and he replied “yes no problem” even after talking us into taking out all of the stamped concrete in our backyard and going with pavers he still claimed we were within our budget. We were really excited about the design and being able to get everything we wanted within our budget until the day came to sign the contract and he gave us the grand total of $59K. We were less than pleased telling him he completely blew our budget and he just says “well this is everything you wanted right?” My husband and I were completely upset over the whole thing and should have just gone with another company after they did that, but we made the mistake of just agreeing to it and signing the contract. After signing the contract any time we tried to call Kevin with any questions he wouldn’t answer or return out calls. We got passed over to their finance person Jill and never heard from Kevin again.
Once our loan was approved the beginning of June 2014 we started working with Elaine and George. We were never proved a phone number to contact George with any issues and he only called from a blocked number. We had to go through Elaine for everything and usually it was a headache to get a hold of her. They began the process of spray painting where the pool was going to go so they could get the approval to start the build. It took them a week to come back out and actually start digging the hole. The day they first started I get a phone call when I was at work telling me they would need to remove our gas meter and pillar to get the bobcat in our backyard. We were already told the day they came out to spray paint the area the pool was going in that there was enough room and we didn’t need to worry about the meter, but of course that changed on day 1. They would have only had to go 3 inches onto our neighbor’s side of the yard which wouldn’t have been a big deal, but told us they couldn’t do that. They claimed the pilot would light itself once they put the meter back on every day they were out at our house, but that was a lye and we had to relight the water heater every day and all day wouldn’t have hot water. They were so worried about driving the bobcat on our neighbor’s side of the yard, but had no problem pilling dirt from our backyard on our neighbor’s side blocking their ability to get in their own backyard. Our neighbors were extremely pissed and we had to call Blue Haven to come back out and fix the problem. The first crew claimed we said it was ok to drive the bobcat on our drive way when we specifically told Kevin from the beginning that we wanted them to go through our flowerbed so there was no damage to our driveway, but they went through the driveway leaving track marks and cracks in the concrete. We asked both George and Elaine not allow the workers to come before 7am, but every day they were at our house between 5:30am and 6:30am. We have 3 dogs so this was a nightmare for us since I wouldn’t have time before I went to work to let my dogs out to go to the bathroom. Blue Haven could care less about our request and just did what they wanted. We stressed to them about the fact we have dogs and our metal gate they had to take down needed to be propped back up every day when they left so our dogs couldn’t get out of the backyard but that was just a fight throughout the whole build.
After each crew of people came out it would take them over a week for the next crew causing a delay in the build. We constantly had to call Blue Haven to find out when someone was coming out since they can’t provide a schedule to make our lives easier. After the first crew of people came out each crew after that never took out the meter and just drove on our neighbor’s side of the yard which made no sense to me that they couldn’t do that from the beginning. Every crew that came to our house except the crew who did the pavers was a complete nightmare. They didn’t respect us or our house leaving their trash everyday causing damage to our house by hitting our house with the bobcat and knocking the stucco off our house. They completely destroyed our drip system that ran alongside the back wall of our backyard for the plants we were not removing costing us $350 to have fixed. The crew that built our waterfall was caught digging in our trashcans and taking things. We cleaned out our garage throwing away some unwanted things and the crew was digging through our stuff and loading up the back of their truck. I was in complete shock with how unprofessional that was!
We were not happy with the look of the waterfall, but once they started it there was nothing we could do at that point. Kevin never showed us actual pictures of what it was going to look like except just a graphic design on his computer. We told Kevin that we want it to look natural and he assured us it would. It was explained to us that it would be built with large boulders but it was actually small boulders put together and one big square concrete slab that doesn’t look natural for the lip where the water runs off. We called Elaine to inform her we didn’t really like the look of it, but she pretty much told us there was nothing she could do. There is tons of sloppy work with the grouting of the tile on the inside of the pool that we didn’t notice until actual using our pool that they did a half fast job. Blue Haven claimed they offered a couple months of free pool service which is a complete joke. The first time the pool guy came out he was in our backyard for 2 minute just throwing chemicals in the pool and not testing the water and took off. We of course called and complained and told us they would send him back out. Why would we want that person to come back out when they couldn’t do their job from the beginning? We ended up calling our own pool guy to come fix the problem and confirm the incompetence of Blue Havens pool service. Our pool was done by the beginning of September 2014 just in time for the end of summer!
To sum up this long story these are the things to expect when choosing Blue Haven. They don’t’ respect your budget, their customer service is horrible, there is no communication between Blue Haven and their contractors, they don’t care about your request even though you’re paying them a grip of money to have a pool put in, whatever you tell the original sales person will not get carried over to the project manager because their communication sucks, their contractors are lazy and sloppy and don’t respect your house. They won’t provide you a schedule as to when crews are coming to your house because they only care about getting paid first then scheduling the next step causing delays. They will put a lean against your home for the full amount of the pool and not disclose that from the beginning. My story listed is just about 50% of the issues we dealt with just to get the point across.
Our neighbor had a pool put in by Anthony Sylvan Pools and it was done in 30-40 days and they had zero issues with them and were provided a full schedule from day one as to when each project was going to start and be completed and any request they had they were able to accommodate without any issues or hassles.
